Optimism Plans to Update its Bedrock Core Network on June 6
Optimism (OP), the scaling Tier 2 platform for Ethereum (ETH), has set June 6 as the official date for a major upgrade of its core network, called Bedrock.
The Optimism Foundation said recently, that the upgrade, discussed earlier this year, will require 2 to 4 hours of downtime, during which transactions, deposits and withdrawals will not be available.
“Bedrock will improve the security and resiliency of the OP Mainnet bridge,” the foundation suggested, adding that it will significantly reduce fees. — Bedrock is designed with as little difference as possible from Ethereum. Ethereum's equivalence + minimal complexity = less room for error, easier for ecosystem developers to contribute."
The Foundation said more information will be available on the Flight Control website. One of the key goals of the update is backward compatibility. “If you are a node operator, you need to deploy an entirely new node for Bedrock,” the Optimism Foundation said in a relevant statement.
Optimism (OP) uses optimistic convolutions, a technology that allows multiple transactions to be combined, which are then written in the Ethereum blockchain into a single transaction. The network has accumulated approximately $863 million in TVL (total value of assets locked on the platform).
